CP Classic Cross Country Has Begun
Information and Registration Forms

CP Classic Wins Two National Titles and Three Medals at the
AAU Jr. Olympics
Monday, July 28 - Saturday,August 2  - The CP Classic Running Club of Cedar Park concluded its most success track season ever at the AAU Jr. Olympic Games Track and Field National Championships in Detroit, Michigan this past week. 

The high point of the season came with Ashley Isham and Zachary Ornelas both running to national titles by large margins.  Isham won the Young Womens division (1989-91) 2000 Meter Steeplechase in a time of 7:25.74, winning by 19 seconds.  Ornelas won the Young Mens division (born 1989-91) 2000 Meter Steeplechase in 6:00.78, a 23 second margin and setting a Jr. Olympic record in the process.  A third medal was earned by Oliver Gunther for his 5th place performance in the Youth Boys (1994) 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:47.16.

Also competing for the CP Classic at the AAU Jr. Olympics were:

The AAU Jr. Olympic Games is the largest youth multi-sport festival in the world.  More than 16,000 athletes and coaches from all 50 states competed in 22 different sports.  9,800 of those athletes competed in track and field.

TAAF Games of Texas See Four Medals Going to CP Classic Runners
Thursday, July 24 - Sunday, July 27  - At the TAAF Games of Texas in San Antonio, four medals were awarded to CP Classic runners.  Madison Boreman and Oliver Gunther each won two medals a piece.  Boreman won the Girls 10 & Under division 1600 Meter Run in a time of 5:53.68 and second in the 800 Meters with a time of 2:46.69.  Gunther got a silver in the Boys 14 & Under 3200 Meters with a time of 10:41.14 and also claimed a bronze for third place in the 1600 Meters with an effort of 4:55.50.

Other finalists were: Susie Kemper (fourth in Girls 14 & Under 1600 Meters in 5:43.37, fourth in the 800 Meters in 2:28.53);
Andrew Stefani (fifth in Boys 12 & Under 800 Meters in 2:40.11); Ryan Brown (sixth in Boys 10 & Under 1600 Meters in 6:05.33, 22nd in 800 Meters in 3:01.27); Logan Thomas (seventh in Boys 12 & Under 1600 Meters in 5:50.57); Jeremy Brown (eighth in Boys 12 & Under 1600 Meters in 5:51.66, 18th in 800 Meters in 2:50.69); Alex Bundy (eighth in Girls 14 & Under 3200 Meters in 13:20.15); Ian Schoeplein (33rd in Boys 10 & Under 800 Meters in 3:23.34); Jesse Attaway (14th in Boys 16 & Under 3200 Meters in 11:22.31, 21st in 1600 Meters in 5:10.49); Kristen Jones (22nd in Girls 10- and-under 800 Meters); and Paige Welch (24th in Girls 12 & Under 800 Meters in 2:56.09).

CP Classic Qualifies 27 Athletes For AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals
Thursday, July 10 - Saturday, July 12, 2008 - The CP Classic Running Club of Cedar Park will be sending its largest contingent ever to the AAU Jr. Olympic Games National Championships in Detroit, Michigan 07/28 - 08/02/2008.  27 CP Classic athletes qualified in 47 separate events at the qualifier meet, the AAU South Texas District Championships in Round Rock on 07/10 - 07/12/2008.   The top 4 finishers qualify as AAU Jr. Olympians.

Double event winners for the CP Classic were:  Marissa Lee in the Intermediate Girls 1992-93 division 1500 Meter (5:05.12) and 3000 Meter runs (11:26.88), Ashley Isham in the Young Women 1990-91 3000 Meters (10:49.70) and 2000 Meter Steeplechase (7:20.97) and Taylor Dayton in the Young Men 1990-91 3000 Meters (9:31.46) and 1500 Meters (4:18.90).

Congratulations to Zach Ornelas!  Nike Outdoor National Champion in the Steeplechase
Saturday, June 21, 2008 - Zach Ornelas won a high school national championship in the 2000 Meter Steeplechase (5:54.58) at the Nike Outdoor Nationals Track & Field meet at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina.  The steeplchase gold medal went along with his silver medal for second place in the 5000 Meter Run (14:56.42) on Thursday evening.

CP Classic Brings in Three Medals at Texas UIL State Track Championships
Friday, May 9, 2008 - The CP Classic was very well represented at the Texas UIL State Track & Field Championships at the Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas.  CP Classic high schoolers who competed in the state meet were Cedar Park Vista Ridge High School's Ashley Isham and Zachary Ornelas.  The amazing performances from Isham and Ornelas brought home three state meet medals - two gold and one silver in the 4A division.  Isham claimed the distance double victory, grabbing gold medals in the Girls 4A 3200 meter run (10:57.06) and in the 1600m (5:01.84).  Ornelas ran to the silver medal in the Boys 4A 3200m (9:15.86).  CP Classic alumni, Vista Ridge's Amanda Russell (11:12.56 and 5:05.86), and Belton High School's Regan Tindell (10:59.13) also competed in the UIL state meet.

Isham, Ornelas, and Tindell also ended the high school school season ranked in the top 10 in the TexasTrack.com Performance Rankings that comprise all Texas high school classifications, including private and home schoolers.  Isham had the #1 performance on the season in the Girls 3200m (10:37.17) and #7 in the Girls 1600m (4:59.28).  Ornelas was #3 in the Boys 3200m (9:08.57).  Tindell was #4 in the Girls 3200m (10:47.27).

Several CP Classic Runners Run to AAU South Texas XC Titles
Sunday, November 18, 2007 - Eight CP Classic runners garnered first place victories in their age divisions at the AAU South Texas Cross Country Championships at Judson High School in Converse.  The cool and overcast weather was perfect for cross country running, although the race courses were slow and muddy from overnight rains.  Regardless of the course conditions, the CP Classic drove through and finished on the podium (top 3 positions) a total of 17 times throughout the day.  Earning victories their age divisions for the CP Classic were: Kristen Jones (Primary Girls born 1999), Ryan Brown (Primary Boys), Sydney Reuter (Sub Bantam Girls born 1998), Chase Isham (Sub Bantam Boys), Nikki Keys (Bantam Girls born 1997), Jeremy Brown (Bantam Boys), Micah Scott (Sub Midget Girls born 1996), and Brandon Keys (Sub Youth Boys born 1994).

Five Medals Earned at AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals
Monday-Saturday, July 30-August 4, 2007 - The Jr. Olympians of the CP Classic earned 5 national championship medals and 16 top-25 placings at the AAU Jr. Olympic Games National Championships at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville this past week. 

Ashley Isham
won three medals in
the Intermediate Girls 1991-'92 division, a 2nd place silver medal in the 2000 meter Steeplechase, (with a time of 7:29.77) and two 3rd place bronze medals in the 1500m Run (4:48.36) and the  3000m Run (10:31.67).  Jesse Devlyn brought home a 6th place copper medal in the Midget Boys '95 3000m (10:33.92).  Regan Tindell also brought home the hardware, a copper medal for 7th place in the Intermediate Girls '91-'92 2000m Steeplechase (7:54.14).  Devlyn also placed 16th in the 1500m (4:57.82).

Also competing for the CP Classic as national Jr. Olympians in Knoxville were:
Amanda Russell in the Intermediate Girls '91-'92 1500m (10th place, 4:56.01), Hayden Fairbanks in the Sub Midget Boys '96 3000m (12th place, 11:21.70) and 1500m (24th place, 5:23.69), Andrew Stefani in the Bantam  Boys '97 1500m (12th place, 5:24.44), Nikki Keys in the Bantam Girls '97 1500m (18th place, 5:57.92), Chase Isham in the Sub Bantam Boys '98 1500m (22nd place 5:56.45), Micah Scott in the Sub Midget Girls '96 3000m (23rd place, 13:19.89), Susie Kemper in the Sub Youth Girls '94 1500m (23rd place, 5:17.34), Ellie Arends in the Youth Girls '93 3000m (24th place, 12:19.60), Mario Reyes in the Bantam Boys '97 1500m (25th place, 5:37.03), and Kristen Jones in the Primary Girls '98 800m (31st, 3:14.79).

TAAF Games of Texas Results are in, so are the Medals

Thursday-Sunday, July 26-29, 2007 - The TAAF Games of Texas State Championships in Round Rock, saw the CP Classic bring in a fantastic haul of eight medals including five gold medals.  Gold medalists were Jesse Attaway who won both the Junior Boys 1993-94 1600 meter run (4:57.86) and 3200m (10:52.89), Ashley Isham who broke two state records in winning the Intermediate Girls 1991-92 1600m (5:09.06) and the 3200m (11:14.22), and Kristen Jones who won the Pee Wee Girls 1999 and later 800m (3:07.97).  Additional medals were brought in by Amanda Russell who won two silvers in the Intermediate Girls 1991-92 1600m (5:10.87) and the 3200m (11:20.23), and Regan Tindell who won bronze in the Intermediate Girls 1991-92 3200m (11:35.49).  Jones will compete in the finals of the Pee Wee Girls 1999 and later 400m on 07/29/2007.  Notable and very impressive was the feat of Isham, Russell, and Tindell in the Intermediate Girls 3200m as they swept all three medals in the event.  Isham and Russell shattered the previous state record and Tindell was two seconds off the previous record time.

CP Classic Qualify in 19 Events for AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals

Thursday-Saturday, July 12-14, 2007 - The distance runners of CP Classic achieved unprecedented success at the AAU Region 9A Championships in San Antonio by winning eight events and qualifying 14 athletes in 19 events for the AAU Jr. Olympic Games National Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee on 07/30-08/04/2007.  At the AAU Region 9A Championships, the top three finishers receive medals and the top four finishers qualify for the AAU Jr. Olympic Games Nationals.

Ashley Isham led the way by winning gold medals in three events.  Isham won the Intermediate Girls 1991-'92 1500 meter run in 4:54.32, 3000 meter run in 10:24.42, and the 2000 meter Steeplechase in 7:11.25 - less than 5 seconds off the national record.  This is the fourth year in a row that Isham has achieved double victories in the 1500m and 3000m at AAU regionals.  Jesse Devlyn also had the high honor of becoming an AAU regional distance double champion by winning the
the Midget Boys '95 1500m in 4:58.09 and 3000m in  10:42.01.

Other CP Classic gold medalists were: Hayden Fairbanks (Sub Midget Boys '96 3000m in 11:36.95, also fourth place in the 1500m in 5:25.81), Susie Kemper (Sub Youth Girls '94 1500m in 5:10.15), and Andrew Stefani (Bantam  Boys '97 1500m in 5:24.48).  Other top 3 medalists were: 
Chase Isham (second place in the Sub Bantam Boys '98 1500m in 5:33.39), Jesse Attaway (third place in the Youth Boys '93 1500m 4:47.87 and the 3000m 10:14.26), Mario Reyes (third place in the Bantam Boys '97 1500m in 5:37.71), and Amanda Russell (third place in the Intermediate Girls '91 1500m 5:01.47).  Also qualifying for AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals were:  Ellie Arends (fourth place in the Youth Girls '93 3000m in 12:08.55), Kristen Jones (fourth place in the Primary Girls '98 800m in 3:00.27), Nikki Keys (fourth place in the Bantam Girls '97 1500m in 5:51.39), Micah Scott (fourth place in the Sub Midget Girls '96 3000m in 12:59.82), Regan Tindell (fourth place in the Intermediate Girls '91-'92 2000m Steeplechase in 7:48.80).

Record Team Performance at AAU South Texas District Austin Area Championships
Friday-Saturday, June 22-23, 2007 - The CP Classic Running Club is well on its way to its best track season ever, as evidenced by the club's spectacular performance at the AAU South Texas District Championships in Round Rock.  The CP Classic qualified athletes in a record 81 events for the AAU Region 9A Track & Field Championships in San Antonio. The AAU Region 9A meet is the final qualifier that leads to the AAU Jr. Olympic Games National Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee on 07/30-08/04/2007.

Some of the highlights of the meet include six athletes who claimed two victories each: 
Jesse Devlyn (Midget Boys '95 1500 and 3000 meter runs), Chase Isham (Sub Bantam Boys '98 800m and 1500m), Ashley Isham (Intermediate Girls '91-'92 1500m and 3000m), Kristen Jones (Primary Girls '99 400m and 800m), Susie Kemper (Sub Youth Girls '94 800m and 1500m), and Andrew Stefani (Bantam Boys '97 800m and 1500m).

Other first place finishers included:
Ellie Arends (Youth Girls '93 3000m), Taylor Dayton (Intermediate Boys '91-'92 3000m), Hayden Fairbanks (Sub Midget Boys '96 3000m), Andrew Maas (Sub Midget Boys '96 1500m), and Micah Scott (Sub Midget Girls '96 3000m).
